Hypersensitivity to cefdinir, other cephalosporins or any component
Use caution if previous penicillins hypersensitivity: 10% of patient may have cross-hypersensitivity to cephalosporins
Use caution if renal dysfunction
Not recommended in children <6 month of age.

Half-life: 1.7 hours, changes with renal function

Children:
>6 month olds: (max: 600 mg/d)
7 mg/kg PO q12h or
14 mg/kg PO qd
Adults:
300 mg PO bid or
600 mg PO qd

<30: 7 mg/kg (max 300 mg/dose) PO qd
>30: unchanged
Dialysis:
Hemo: give 7 mg/kg (max 300 mg/dose) PO x1 after dialysis then q48h
